Creative SPARC Architects is an architecture and design practice created to explore exciting, innovative, challenging and sustainable design ideas.
The foundations of the practice are based on developing a broad and exciting portfolio of contemporary architecture. We challenge our clients to commission architecture rather than simply construct buildings and we ask them to fully engage with the design process to enable us to deliver unique and innovative solutions that exceed their expectations. We promote and embrace sustainable design solutions as a core principle of every project.
Every project is unique and bespoke. We focus on exploring creative ideas rather than developing a specific architectural style. This exploration covers all building typologies and scales, and includes experience in residential, commercial, educational, leisure, public realm, cultural and landscape design.
Our design philosophy and working practices encourage collaboration and a co-operative mentality. We work closely with like-minded artists, design and construction professionals; assembling the design team on an individual project basis. This approach encourages creativity and allows us to remain flexible, whilst ensuring we develop and deliver, exciting, innovative, and successful projects.

Founding Director & RIBA Chartered Architect
Founding Director & RIBA Chartered Architect
Andy is the Founding Director of Creative SPARC Architects having setup the practice in 2012.
He has almost twenty years architectural experience and has been a chartered architect for 16 years following the completion of his BA in Architecture degree at Liverpool University and his post graduate degree at Birmingham City University. During his studies he was nominated for and received several academic-based awards including winner of the RIBA West Midlands Drawing of the Year.
He retains an interest in academia having previously taught on the BA in Architecture course at Birmingham City University, acted as a visiting critic and guest lecturer on the Masters in Architecture course at BCU and more recently as a guest lecturer at the Manchester School of Architecture.
Like many architects, his fascination with architecture and design started at a young age through endless hours drawing and playing with Lego. This playful approach to architecture has carried through into his career, always trying to push the boundaries of what’s possible in a design and from a project brief.
Andy has a range of design experience in multiple sectors and on varying scales of project, both with Creative SPARC and from previous employment. This includes working on residential, education, commercial, leisure and cultural schemes.
Outside of work he enjoys travel, watching and playing sports, and walking along the beach or in the countryside with his French bulldog Archie.

David Mangnall
Architectural Technician
Architectural Technician
David was first introduced to architecture 10 years ago and has been captivated ever since. As a very inquisitive person, he seeks out the understanding of how things work and enjoys searching for solutions. He loves his role as an architectural technician, as there’s such an extensive range of duties and responsibilities, meaning that every day is different from the last.
David is also a self-confessed computer geek and relishes mastering different drawing packages and software. He takes pride in the accuracy and detail of what he draws and how it’s presented.
At home, David and his wife have a chihuahua called Moon and a rabbit named Jet, and in his spare time he enjoys playing music in a band, World of Warcraft and dabbling in the world of 3D printing.
